Jan 12, 2018 at 11:28 comment added Reader Manifold So my question is about whether any such ban had occurred before and whether it had any positive impact. I understand that this should be in some 'History of vegetarianism' stack exchange but as there is no such site I felt compelled to ask this here.
Jan 12, 2018 at 11:24 comment added Reader Manifold @Alexander Rossa To make it clear I was concerned about people not respecting the ban. I have heard people say, "A ban is not a solution to anything " . But I feel that a ban ought to make some difference.
Jan 12, 2018 at 11:18 comment added Reader Manifold @ Alexander Rossa What I said was a complete ban on killing of animals will be an undesirable to many. I don't think everyone would be willing to be vegetarians..
Jan 12, 2018 at 11:00 comment added Alexander Rossa I am a bit confused about your question. Impact on the condition of which animals? The ones being slaughtered? Well, I guess so, they don't get slaughtered nearly as much. And why would 'many disagree'? When you doubt that the ban would actually have an effect on the well-being of the animals, are you concerned about the ban not being respected by the people? Or is it because you think the ban is insufficient in itself? I would like to answer your question, but either the answer is simple 'Yes, of course' or I am missing something.
Jan 12, 2018 at 9:57 comment added Reader Manifold "Thus I would like to know whether there are cases where a government banned animal slaughter and was also able to reduce it atleast to a limited extent" Actually this is my question.
