On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Robert Longson

I've been a member of Stack Exchange since 2011, I've asked enough questions and answers to be 12th in the all time reputation on this site although I have to admit I've not asked or answered anything recently. I've also been vegetarian for nearly 30 years now.

I'd like to see Veganism & Vegetarianism continue to be a place that people can come to find out accurate information about the subject.

I'm pretty active trying to help people understand how all Stack Exchange sites work on Meta Stack Exchange.

I also participate in the Charcoal project that aims to keep all Stack Exchange sites spam free so I'd to continue to do that more directly as a moderator here if necessary.

Rand al'Thor

I'm a lifelong vegetarian who's been part of V&V since its Area 51 days. I haven't been hugely active on this site over the years, but I'm willing to step up as a moderator if needed.

Something I'd like to improve here is to make a clearer tagging policy and link more duplicates and related questions together. This would help to create a more clearly structured site where it's easier to find all questions related to a given topic.

I'm already serving as an elected mod on two other SE sites, since 2016 and 2020 respectively, but I'm sure that V&V is small enough and has little enough drama that I'd be able to manage moderating all three. My mod experience would help me to handle a lot of flags and issues easily, while deferring to the existing V&V mods on matters very specific to this site.

I've been a vegan since 2010, and a member of various Stack Exchange sites since 2016, two of which I have 4000-5000 reputation. I was previously a pescatarian for 13 years prior.

I was one of the first respondents to the Veganism & Vegetarianism proposal, creating sample questions and answers to qualify for a Stack Exchange site. I haven't contributed since, but I'd love to be involved going forward. I love Stack Exchange, and how it helps bringing some degree of sanity to this age of disinformation.

I have also created a section in the the old Raw Veganism page in the Wikipedia before it was merged into Raw Foodism.

This election is over.
